Regina Klitorius Maximus Infernus

I want to borrow your imagination for a bit. Not to worry, I’ll return it once I’m finished with it (though you may not want it back).

Now…

Imagine a world of perpetual sunset, a bright, red, angry orb hanging just above the horizon, bleeding into the clouds. It’s a sun that never sets with a temperature that only gets as high so as to make one unceasingly uncomfortable, but never burns. Cries and moans of pleasure can be heard, issuing from all directions. You look around and notice that the hills, mountains, rivers, and lakes are composed of slick, writhing human flesh for as far as the eye can see. Bodies of every size, shape, and color imaginable engaged in all manner of depravity and perversion. Rising through the midst of it all is a giant, black, wrought-iron throne. The skulls of creatures unidentifiable adorn it. Upon the throne sits the naked god of this realm. From head to toe are symbols and sigils etched into her brown skin. Running her fingers through her blood-soaked tresses, she slowly turns towards you and meets your gaze, a slight smile curling her lips. You are transfixed, unable to say or do anything. She senses your panic and her smile grows wider, revealing rows of pearly-white incisors. Your mind and soul are in turmoil, simultaneously feeling both aroused and terrified. Your brain begins to boil and thick, black tears stream down your face as you scream for what seems like an eternity until you are wholely consumed by oblivion.

This is what it feels like listening to rapper and performance artist BigKlit.

I keep telling myself that one of these days, I’ll write down how and where I find the recording artists who I become a fast fan of. Usually, I find an artist through social media recommendations after liking the social profile of one musician. But, for the life of me, I can’t imagine how I ended up listening to and becoming a fan of the self-proclaimed “Queen of Hell”. I mean, there’s no one else like her, so how did Facebook’s algorithm choose her for me?

One day, I reposted a video by BigKlit on my personal Instagram profile and a film director I know saw it and called her “the female GG Allin”. I took issue with him calling her (or any woman) the female version of a male figure, but the comparison was (more or less) accurate, I think. Allin, however, was more crazy than brilliant; BigKlit is brilliantly crazy (she’s also far more talented than GG ever was). I tend to attract and be attracted to women who are “crazy”. It’s been that way for as far back as I can remember (I live with two of them now). Mind you, when I say “crazy”, I don’t mean it in the clinical sense and I’m not being disrespectful. Women possess a peculiar quality that most men have a hard time understanding and appreciating. They call women crazy, but they’re the ones losing their minds because they can’t handle that level of passion and brilliance. I, on the other hand, revel in it. So, you could imagine my reaction upon first seeing and hearing BigKlit. I was instantaneously smitten! How could I not love and respect a woman who is unafraid to display her pit and pubic hairs in public and has men giving her head on stage?

Her music and performances, however vulgar, are not just mere noise and spectacle. She addresses a number of themes, not least among them sexual fluidity, misogyny, and sexism.

From what I gathered after watching a video of Indigo (real name, no last name) from when she was fourteen years old, she was destined for this path. Much like her pubes, she would grow to be unruly. Her antics aren’t just an act, nor are her songs simply noise for the sake of being offensive. The only ones who might feel offended are those whom she targets in her songs: the misogynists, homophobes, and colonizers and nobody really gives a fuck about those people anyway. BigKlit is not a slave to convention or gender norms. Her music, videos, and performances are all acts of feminist outrage and rebellion. Her piercing stare and beguiling smile dare you to follow where she treads. The path she walks is not for the faint of heart, yet, her fearless fans walk with her, willingly and enthusiastically into the arms of Freedom. She is Mother.

People have called me crazy since childhood, but I could never focus that crazy into doing something productive. BigKlit has managed to accomplish the seemingly impossible, in that regard. If only I could roll up what she has into a joint and smoke it, or put it into my booze, or sniff it like poppers, I would do so gladly. In fact, I would dose the reservoirs and wells of the world with BigKlit juice. It would forever alter the consciousness of the world, destroying all illusions and all bonds. We would all then be free af.
