Haute Time in the City

When I first came up with the idea for this magazine, I knew little about any of the fashion week events that take place in New York, Milan, Paris, and London (not to mention the smaller events). I knew they existed, and I knew they were fabulous, I even knew who many of the designers were. I just didn’t know how intense it could be. That all changed last August, when the invitations for New York Fashion Week SS20 started to trickle in. The invitations quickly became a flood, and it was anxiety-inducing because I didn’t know anything about anything! How should I dress? Should I come early? Can I bring a plus one? I am grateful to my sister (who interviewed interior designer Curtis Stallard in October) and our new Administrative Assistant (both of whom were runway and print models, back in the nineties), and model extraordinaire Carley Beck, who took time from her busy schedule to school me on a few things. Were it not for these awesome women, my first fashion week would have been a disaster. It was a success, as you can see from all of the articles we’ve published since then.

However…

I am composing this editorial right smack in the middle of New York Fashion Week FW2020, which means that I am once again late with an editorial (I did manage to get one out there in December). I’m still trying to build a reliable team for this publication, but it is difficult. Despite this, I think I’ve done well here. Fortunately, I now have someone who is currently working hard to help me out. Her name is Sherice Williams. She’s a former runway/print model, writer and magazine editor, and currently, a real estate agent with Compass. Her determination to further the success of Kingdomz X Magazine is inspiring and keeps me on my toes. I don’t know what I would do without her. Having Sherice is a boon to me not only because she’s helping out, but also because of her understanding of fashion. When it comes to fashion, I know what I like, but I don’t know what I’m talking about.

Which brings me back to New York Fashion Week.

There are a couple of things I feel is lacking here, and that is the representation of LGBTQ individuals, and men. I spoke about it in my last editorial, but it’s finally happening (see What is a Man and The Twink Prince). This is just the beginning of what you can expect from us. The only reason progress is slow coming, is because I really want to do it right.

In the meanwhile check out all of our latest fashion articles, and don’t be afraid to leave a comment if you like what you see.

Lastly, though I began this editorial in February (when all was more or less right with the world), I’m finishing towards the end of March. You already know what that means, and I will address it in my next editorial (which will not be late), and let you know what that spells for the future of Kingdomz X Magazine.
