- 'Metal' Dave Wakeham is a long term hard to the core passionate heavy metal guitarist and vocalist fronting his own band Wakeham's Terrortory who are an intense thrash metal band.
'Metal' Dave is a very proud man to have a long history of enthusiasm for music from remembering his two uncles listening to punk rock single '45' records and jamming electric guitars with their friends back in the early 1980s, it was at this point that he knew exactly what he wanted to do!
His stronger inspiration came from both the music his parents were playing on their music centre stereo, the radio, or music videos of the television and from that he liked The Beatles, Queen, Kiss, Def Leppard, Whitesnake and the like.
It came the time in his early teens to rachet up the attack and get into Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Yngwie Malmsteen and W.A.S.P.
A regular viewer of the metal shows 'MTV's Metal Hammer, Headbangers Ball, ITVs Raw Power, Radio 1s Friday Rock Show' he heard Anthrax and said "THAT'S the sound I've just got to have!" THRASH was they way it had to go in 'Metal' Dave's life!
As an avid fan of thrash metal, hardcore and what other extremities he could find bands such as Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, Testament, Exodus, Kreator, Dark Angel, Annihilator, Death, Obituary, Possessed, D.R.I., Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror, Biohazard, Cro Mags, Pantera, Sepultura and the list could go on for ever!
'Metal' Dave Wakeham never ever lost sight of his musical roots. While learning the guitar at between 13 and 15 years old he would develop a fondness for Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Discharge, The Exploited and N.W.O.B.H.M. purely out of facination for thrash metal history and realisation of the importance of the genre's roots and Dave still loves to search all over the musical spectrum for 'other' music styles and their best artists to help him create a wider scope and feel for music while never forgetting his intense thrash metal integrity.
Rather than be overly focussed on style 'Metal' Dave see's thrash metal as more a way of expression in metal with the energy,intensity,velocity,and attack!
